In most forums, there's usually a goodbye thread which members use to tell the whole community they are leaving at the moment for one reason or another. I think it's a good thing to have in forums because it helps keep everyone updated when a member is leaving. It won't be like they disappeared without any word or trace.

Have you ever used the goodbye thread in any forum?

Well, if I said hello when I joined with my introduction, I believe that it's the right thing to say goodbye to everyone when I'm going away unless it's impossible for me to do so.

I've never been the one to leave a community permanently. Whenever I am going away, I don't see the need to say goodbye because I know that I will always come back.

Yes, I’ve seen and used goodbye threads before. I think they’re a nice touch because it lets the community know someone is leaving instead of just disappearing. It gives a sense of closure and keeps things friendly and organized.

Yes, it's something I can agree with because it's going to be on record when someone is going away for a while. Forum members wouldn't start wondering what happened.

Some forums are too big that they won't recognize when a member leaves the forum and that's why goodbye thread are made possible for people to make use of. I usually check the threads to know who decides to.leave or who made a post about going out.

When a community is very big, all I would do is check if they hello and goodbye thread is active, if it is, I'll say goodbye before leaving but if it's not, I'll just take my leave without bothering.
