Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 Preview – A Return to One Hundred Acre Woods

With Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey having shocked the world with a roaring success, it has always been expected to get its very own sequel. The imaginatively titled Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is set to land on streaming services on February 21, 2024.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 Follows a Surprising Success

It was just last year when aspiring film maker, Rhys Frake-Waterfield capitalized on the rights to the childhood bear slipping from Disney and into the public domain. With a meagre budget of $100,000, Frake-Waterfield managed to gross a whopping $5.2 million in sales; so, it comes as little surprise that these 5.2 million reasons have motivated him into making a sequel just one year later.

While using childhood heroes in a contrasting horror setting is nothing new, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey stood out from the rest and captured the hearts of horror enthusiasts the world over. Having reviewed the first movie last year, it’s clear to see the reasons for the budget horror’s triumph and it isn’t owing to Oscar-winning performances or jaw-dropping special effects.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 – Plot

In the first Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey we saw Winnie the Pooh and Piglet on a murderous spree where they hacked and slashed their way through five unfortunate girls who happened to be vacationing in a nearby lodge. Their gripe? That their human friend, Christopher Robin left them to move on with his life. Ending with Christopher returning to One Hundred Acre wood to end the crazed creatures’ bloody reign to only end up promising to stay with them forever.

From this ending, it’s easy to surmise that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will somehow involve Robin as he assists Pooh and friends in their bloodshed. Reportedly, the upcoming sequel will be even bloodier than the first with a body count of 30.

My research also tells me that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will see the debut of other characters from the 1926 A.A Milne books with Owl, Rabbit and Tigger all set to appear in the sequel.

With so few details surrounding the actual storyline, it’s hard to do anything but speculate on how exactly the movie will play out. There’s a strange part of me that can’t wait to see how it transpires.

A Boosted Budget will Give Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 a New Lease of Life

With a budget ten times higher than the first movie, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will bring not only new (to the movies) characters but the word on the street is costume designers will work to give the antagonists a more animalistic edge. Great news for fans of the original production who thought the joke store masks donned by the cast were just a tad too tacky. With a bit of luck, the $1,000,000 budget will also see improvements in the special effects department.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey – Summary

I’m looking forward to seeing how Frake-Waterfield will spend the massively boosted budget. With a million dollars in the kitty, the director will be able to let his creative side shine and it will be interesting to see just how madcap his ideas will be without the financial constraint suffered in the opening movie.

The addition of new characters also has my interest and I’m especially curious about how they will give Tigger a nightmarish makeover. It’s just a shame that we won’t see the famously depressed donkey, Eeyore as the first movie made it clear that he fell victim to Pooh and Piglet.
