The Best Horror Movies Coming in 2022 (Part 2)

Salem’s Lot

Release date: 9 September, 2022

Originally a book authored by ‘The King of Horror’, Stephen King, Salem’s Lot was first released as a movie in 1979. Following a writer (as the tradition of King dictates), Ben Mears, as he travels back to the town he spent his childhood. However, all is not as he remembers it. A sinister shroud has fallen on Salem’s Lot that sees the town folk turning into vampires.

Salem’s Lot was a resounding success in both print and on the screen in 1979. Since the first imagining of King’s classic novel special effects and even acting has improved in leaps and bounds. With that being said, we can’t wait to see how Salem’s Lot will be with latter day abilities.

As an added bonus, The Shawshank Redemption actor, William Sadler, will be appearing in the upcoming adaptation/remake.

Orphan: First Kill

It was back in 2009 when Orphan premiered and blew us away with some phenomenal acting; a gripping, interesting story and one of the best twists that the big screen has seen before and since. Well, it seems like all of those sacrificial lambs never died in vain as the Gods of Horror have finally answered to our chanting and a new Orphan movie is in the works.

*SPOILER ALERT – DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN ORPHAN*

Those of you that have seen the 2009 original will be familiar with Leena, the crazed sociopath that suffers a medical condition that makes her look like a child. After Leena escaped the institution she was incarcerated in, she escapes and flees to America, where she gets adopted as Esther and begins her new life. Of course, the inevitable happens as Leena uses her wily ways to pit her new ‘mother’ and ‘father’ against each other. Eventually the movies tails into carnage and ends with the youthful yet elderly, Leena dying as we see her neck break.

Of course, due to the outcome of Orphan, a sequel wouldn’t have been possible. Instead, Orphan: First Kill will be a prequel. As expected, we will finally see the events that led to the first movie unfold. Orphan: First Kill is easily our most anticipated movie of 2022.

Choose or Die offers a horror twist on the classic movie, War Games; in that the lead characters at first think they are playing with extreme consequences. It’s an interesting premise and it will be great to see Asa Butterfield progressing his career to feature movies.

  1. I’m definitely going to look out dkd6Choose or Die on Netflix by weekend. The twist in the plot is something that looks interesting to me. I have watched something like that in the past but I quite can’t remember the name of the movie.
