Pickpockets are very common in my neighbourhood when I was still a bit younger. My mother used to warm me to be very careful how I stay in congested place with a lot of people because that's the place pickpockets do their thing.

I have only had my pockets picked once, but I was lucky not to have much money on me that day. I only lost $20 to them. Have you had any experience with pickpockets?

It was about 10 years ago now, I can't forget that experience. I was given some money so that I can go to the store and buy vegetables for our dinner. Because I love wearing jeans; be it a skirt or shorts, I put the money at the back pocket. I met some young guys fighting and I decided to go and separate them, not knowing that's their tactics of pickpocketing.

It seems as if I was the one they have been waiting for, I settled their case and they left. I was happy that I am their Messiah who settle case amicably. My shock was when I reached the store and wanted to pay for my goods, I couldn't find the money. It occurred to me that some guys where pushing me from the behind when I was separating the fight and I didn't know that was when they are collecting my money. It was funny but painful.

Pickpocketing I can't say is popular where I live but I do know some places where it's bad.

Where I live they tend to attack the person to steal something from them which is awful and tends to happen way too often.

This is quite painful. You ended up bearing the loss for trying to be a peace maker. I hope you were able to sort yourself out to getting what you wanted to get at that place?

This is so wrong. I guess they end up injuring the person at the end of the day. I would always prefer experiencing pick pocketing than this.

I sorted myself out and also got what I wanted, just a call solved those issues. I have learnt my lesson not to try and enter into people's fight.

I don't carry anything of value on me except for my smartphone. If anyone is trying to pick my pocket, they will never get anything worth something in it. Unless they snatch my smartphone and run away, they won't get anything from me.

There's a friend of mine who went as far as not having any pockets in his clothes. He sew up all the pockets in all of his clothes so that he doesn't have to put anything in them. According to him, it's the best way to prevent getting pickpocketed.

I don't like going out with valuable things in my pocket. It's either I am carrying a bag or I am going out without anything. I haven't experienced pick pocket but I have a friend that have his phones and items stolen several times.
