More of our Most Eagerly Anticipated Horror Movies of 2023

At the start of the year, I wrote about some of our most anticipated horror movies for the first half of the year. Now, with the movie we chose having passed us by, we couldn’t think of a better time to take a look forward and once again choose the movies we are most looking forward to in the coming months.

Five Nights at Freddy’s

October 27, 2023

After Nic Cage’s questionable appearance in Willy’s Wonderland, it has come as little surprise that the original inspiration would get its limelight. Originally announced in 2015, the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie adaptation was then put forward to 2017, before an entire screenplay was thrown out of the window by game creator, Scott Cawthon.

Despite the many problems the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie adaptation has faced, however, it has now been confirmed for release on October 27, with filming having started in February.

While exact details surrounding the plot remain scarce, we do know it won’t stray too far from the games. Whether or not this just means the movie follows a security guard on a night shift we don’t know. Here’s the official tagline, make of it what you will.

“The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.”

The Exorcist: Believer

October 13, 2023

It has been 50 years since the original The Exorcist movie first caused mayhem and hysteria in 1973. Now, five decades on, we are impatiently waiting for a franchise reboot with a brand new trilogy; starting with The Exorcist: Believer, which is due to be released this October.

While not a remake, we will still see the original character, Chris MacNeil (Ragan’s mother), return. After two girls go missing in the local woods, they return acting strangely. It’s not long before demonic forces are ruled to be the only explanation and MacNeil is brought in to bring her experience to the battle between evil forces.

Sadly little more is known about the exact plotline, but you can read more about it in our earlier article; where we go into more detail about The Exorcist: Believer.

Saw X

October 27, 2023

Another highly and widely anticipated movie to look forwards to is Saw X. The Saw franchise is famously known for its no-holds-barred approach to gore and twisting plotline.

Saw X will take place between the events of Saw (2014) and Saw II (2005). The timing of the movie will mean that the Jigsaw Killer is still alive as he died in the third movie. Aside from the return of an iconic horror character, we will also see a comeback for Amanda Young. Amanda played a small part in the first movie and was heavily featured in Saw II before meeting a grizzly end in the third chapter.

Known for being the only person to escape one of Jigsaw’s traps, Amanda went on to become the Trap Master’s trusty assistant and helped Jigsaw (real name John Kramer) with his blood-soaked fight against the morally corrupt. Saw X is another movie we have recently covered, more details can be found in this article.

  1. The Exorcist Believer and Saw X is what I’m looking forward to when they will be out. I’ve watched all previous Exorcist horror movies and they have never disappoint. I won’t say much about Saw franchise but it’s gone for too long.
